In the race of cutoff marks:After completing Higher Secondary examinations, students from science background always starts to prepare themselves for attending various competitive examinations to get their entry to a good technical or medical institution. In the race of being a topper in this materialist society, many highly skilled students stays legging behind due to the mark basis merit determination system. After completing the race with great spirit, they cries for a good placement to work with. This is the real situation, mainly in North-Eastern parts of India. In this race, all those general streams of science, which made the base of those high profile technical and medical fields, are neglected and some average merit students, who failed to qualify for those high profile studies, fills the seats of those BSc colleges. These colleges always misses those higher rank students in merit list. And thus some great career opportunities remains unfilled. Many times when someone reaches my door seeking career guidance after completing 12th, I recommend them to go for a BSc degree courses. Among all other science undergraduation sources, due to it’s little complexity, the subject Botany remains untouched by the greater proportion of BSc students, making the course more valuable from the career point of view. So, this article is for those undergraduate students who chose Botany as a core or major subject for higher studies.
